Since taking office in April 2018, President Julius Maada Bio has committed his administration to move Sierra Leone beyond peacebuilding to establishing firm democratic institutions.

The centrepiece of President Bio’s strategy has been the launch of an ambitious free quality education programme that provides access to basic through secondary education.
